April provides great deals on lodging, skiing and dining. June and
September offer peak conditions for summer recreation. Most summer
events and activities kick off on Memorial Day Weekend and run strong
until the end of September. Vail tends to have Indian Summers

Altitude
Issues in Vail
Vail's altitude is 8,150 feet above sea level.
That's over a mile and a half!
Above 8,000 feet, altitude illness affects 20 to 30 percent
of visitors from low elevations to some degree. The first thing most
people notice is a shortness of breath, especially when exercising.
In addition, the heart is likely to beat faster and one may develop
nausea, fatigue, headache, or have difficulty sleeping. If you develop
one or more of these symptoms you may have Acute Mountain Sickness
(AMS). If these symptoms do not subside within a day or two, consult
a doctor.
ATM’s/Banks
in Vail
Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards are widely accepted at
the Vail Mountain Resort and throughout the town, in addition
to Traveler’s Cheques. ATM machines accept most cards for a
small fee and are located at various on-mountain locations and throughout
the Vail Ski Area.
